If they can't find you after a few minutes and they are unable to contact you in any way, they will cancel the ride, charge you the fee, and go to the next customer The driver would never wait 45 minutes to cancel a ride. If I was to do it again, I would either just walk straight out of the airport and get a taxi or I would arrange to have a Mexican SIM card in my phone before I arrived. In Canadian funds that’s a difference of $10 versus $30, and after the frustrating hour that I spent trying to connect with Uber and then waiting, I wish I had just taken a taxi right off the bat. The difference in price was 130 pesos for the Uber compared to 400 pesos for the taxi. The fact that I didn’t have consistent Wi-Fi complicated matters in terms of communicating with my driver.Įventually I gave up and took a taxi. I’ve never had a no-show before with Uber, so I can only surmise that there was a miscommunication. I did eventually get my Uber booked and it said he would be there in six minutes. It actually didn’t work out very well because the airport Wi-Fi was sketchy… I found it hard to connect to and then it kept kicking me off. I had been told by my host that all I had to do was connect to the airport Wi-Fi and then call my Uber. Earlier this week I landed at Mexico City airport intending to get an Uber to my destination in the Cocoayan district. ![]()
